Remote Learning

Covid Remote Learning Information

In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, and the Government guidance resulting from this, we find ourselves in a position where school may be closed to some pupils. This could be due to a whole-school closure in light of lockdown measures being introduced, a class bubble isolating or an individual child isolating following exposure to a potential case of Coronavirus. We have therefore put a place in place for remote learning so that all children can continue with their education from home if needed. This meets the expectations set out in the Department for Education (DfE) guidance – “Restricting attendance during national lockdown: Schools” published January 2021.

Below this information you will find our recently updated Remote Learning Policy as well as our current Remote Learning Offer statement. We have also added a copy of our Remote Learning Framework which is a document used to review and evaluate our remote learning provision. This then supports us in making improvements and adaptations as needed. We have also included a copy of our Parents’ Guide to Microsoft Teams as well as some online safety information and advice. Microsoft Teams video tutorials for parents can also be found by clicking this link : Microsoft Teams Tutorial Videos

If a child does not have access to a computer/tablet device and/or the internet, the school will do all it can to support the children and suggest alternative ways that children can continue to learn at home. Where funding can be accessed, remote devices (e.g. – laptops) and or 4G connections will be sought and offered as a loan for use at home – however, this is dependent upon availability of resources. Class Teachers will maintain contact with families via telephone where necessary to offer support and parents are reminded to make school aware of any barriers to accessing remote learning.

Remote learning will be offered via our Learning Platform, Microsoft Teams. For our Reception children, paper packs of resources will also be available weekly to support the younger children in accessing their learning. More information of the arrangements, including quantity of work and information regarding the setting of assignments and structure of teaching input can be found in the documents below.

The staff have worked tirelessly in ensuring that any children learning from home can access the resources and support they need in order to continue their learning journey – and we are incredibly grateful for all the support we have receieved from parents as we all work together towards this common goal.

Should you have any questions about our remote learning offer or arrangements, please contact the School Office or email Mrs Lennon (Headteacher) joanne.lennon@danebank.tameside.sch.uk
