Governors

 The purpose of the governing body is to conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement at Dane Bank Primary School.

They undertake this by having a strong focus on three core strategic functions:-

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

For more information regarding the structure, responsibilities and accountability of Governors at Dane Bank, and to see Governance documentation, please click here to go to the Changing Lives in Collaboration Trust’s website. There you will also find a record of Governor attendance at meetings.

I have worked at Dane Bank Primary since the 6 March 1995. When I first started, I was employed as an NNEB (National Nursery Examination Board), working in the Nursery.  After 16 years, and gaining a Foundation degree, I moved into the main school as a HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant).  From September 2023, I took up the role of Attendance Support Officer alongside my HLTA role and I love both!

Since 2004, I have also owned and managed Dane Bank Kids’ Club Ltd which offers before & after school and holiday club.

Governor Vacancy

We are looking to recruit additional co-opted governors (volunteers) to the Dane Bank Local Governing Committee.  No previous school governor experience is necessary as training will be provided but a commitment to support and challenge school leaders in the best interests of all Dane Bank pupils is essential.

The role requires attendance at four meetings a year (Wednesday’s 16.30-18.30) where there is an expectation that governors have read the reports associated with the agenda and will ask questions of school leaders.  You would be joining a great team of seven governors, some very experienced, some newly-appointed, but all committed to the success of Dane Bank.  You would also be joining a strong multi-academy trust and would benefit from learning and development opportunities.

If you are interested in learning more about the role, please contact Steph Rhodes at CLIC Trust: srhodes@clictrust.org
